September Volunteer Update
Here is the September Volunteer Update, which is posted and available in the shelter office.
Thank you for all your help with the tent sale!
We’ll have a yard sale with leftover items at the shelter later this month. Jan will be organizing this based on the weather and her schedule, so stay tuned.
Our fall shot clinic is coming up Saturday, October 7! We’ll need volunteers to do paperwork (filling out rabies certificates). The clinic is 2 hours in the afternoon at the shelter. Let Alicia or Jackie know if you want to help.
Welcome Ashley and Crystal, our newest cleaning shift volunteers!
Some of our volunteers live elsewhere during the winter or visit family in the fall, so we’ll need to fill their spots while they’re away, specifically Tuesday mornings, Thursday mornings, and Friday afternoons.
Also, if you know of high schoolers (>16 years old) who need community service hours, we still need help on the weekend shifts.
If you can add a shift, please let Jackie know ASAP!
Volunteer Enrichment and Training:
Alicia will be holding a training event for volunteers on Monday Sept. 11 and again Friday Sept 15 from 11:30 am ~ 12:30 pm in the shelter’s barn/clinic space. “SCAR protocol: Handling isolated, sick, and aggressive cats”. Sign-up is on the cabinet in the shelter office. We can only handle ~10 people at each session due to chair space, but all volunteers on cleaning shifts must make an effort to attend one of these training events at some point, especially if they clean isolation or the barn overflow. If you can’t make these days, please alert Alicia and she will schedule another for the future.
These training sessions aim to reduce preventable illness and stress among our shelter population. They will be informal and questions encouraged.
Thank you for all you do!!
