SPONSOR A SHELTER CAT FOR MOTHER'S DAY
Does Mom really want more flowers or chocolate for Mother's Day this year? Forego the conventional gift - If mom happens to be a cat lover, sponsoring a shelter cat in her honor at Second Chance might be just the thing.
Sponsor a shelter cat and Second Chance will mail a personal note to Mom with a cat's picture and description, and place a special Mother's Day acknowledgement card on the sponsored cat's kennel.
To sponsor a cat, fill out the form below by May 1st, 2013 to ensure card delivery by Mother's Day.
What’s the perfect Mother’s Day gift? Flowers are lovely for only a few days before they start dropping petals all over the place—that means more work for Mom. Candy is tasty but full of extra calories—that means more workouts for Mom.
Maybe the answer is to forego the conventional gift and do something special in honor of your mother. If your mom happens to be a cat lover, sponsoring a shelter cat at the Washington Animal Rescue League might be just the thing.
For a $50 donation, the League will send a personalized card to your mother and place a special Mother’s Day acknowledgment card on the sponsored animal’s den. The acknowledgment card will remain in place until the end of the month.
To sponsor a cat for Mother’s Day, go the League's Web site and click “Donate—Make a Difference Today.” Select “Sponsor a cat” from the “My gift is for…” menu. Then check the box to indicate your gift is in honor of someone special, and when you’re asked to indicate whether the gift is for a holiday, let them know it is for Mother’s Day and provide the name and address so they can send a card.
Donations must be made by Tuesday, May 4, in order for the cards to be delivered by Mother’s Day.
